To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many community mental handicap nurses are employed by each health authority in Wales.

[holding answer 14 July 1988]: Information, taken primarily from the NHS payroll, does not at present permit reliable estimates to be made of numbers of community mental handicap nurses. However, work is being carried out by the district health authorities in conjunction with Welsh Office officials to enable such information to be extracted in the longer term.
