§ The Prime MinisterMy right hon. Friend the Home Secretary has announced that we intend in the forthcoming legislative proposals to replace the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984 to broaden and strengthen our attack on terrorist funding. He has outlined these proposals to his colleagues in the Trevi forum and they have agreed that Trevi should study ways of confiscating funds intended to support terrorism. Our proposals will provide a starting point for this study. There has also been some work on this topic in the European political co-operation forum to establish what legislative provisions exist at present in the EC countries.
