§ The Prime MinisterUnder our next steps initiative, to the greatest extent practicable, responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the executive functions of Government will in future be delegated to executive agencies. The Government are now developing a progressive programme for establishing agencies. My right hon. Friend the Minister of State, Privy Council Office, will make a statement on the progress of this initiative before the recess.
