asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they intend to bring the unified custodial sentence for young offenders proposed in the Criminal Justice Bill into operation.

Provided the relevant provisions in the Criminal Justice Bill secure Parliamentary approval by the summer Recess, it is our intention to implement the new sentence from 1st October this year.
