To ask the Minister for the Arts what measures he will bring forward to encourage the arts in Nottingham, north.

Mr. Luce

Encouragement of the arts in Nottingham is the responsibility of East Midlands Arts, in partnership with the Arts Council and the local authorities. I support the Arts Council's endeavour to develop the arts in the regions and I hope that arts bodies in Nottingham, as elsewhere in the region, will be able to take full advantage of the council's incentive funding scheme, for which I have made £3.5 million available this year.
