Mr. Cox

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is the maximum penalty that can be imposed on people running illegal radio broadcasting stations.

Mr. Butcher

The maximum penalty under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 for the unlicensed use of a radio transmitter is a fine of £2,000 and/or three months' imprisonment.

Mr. Cox

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will list the names of the illegal radio stations operating in the London area, and the number of times such stations have been raided by officers of his Department in each of the last three years.
