HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 c157W
Mr. Jack

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the impact the current financial situation of the United Nations is having on its policies.

Mr. Eggar

While individual programmes are kept under constant review and the Secretary-General has instituted some cost-saving measures, including a recruitment freeze, reductions in staffing and savings in travel expenses, the current financial difficulties being experienced by the United Nations have not so far had any major impact on United Nations policies.
