HC Deb 26 January 1988 vol 126 cc179-80W
21. Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he has any plans to review the school psychological service and pre-school facilities available to the children of service men serving in Germany.

Mr. Freeman

The Service Children's Education Authority (SCEA) conducted a review of its special needs provision including that for pre-school children during 1987. Policy changes are currently under discussion within the Ministry of Defence.

The subject of pre-school facilities is kept under continous review. The Pre-School Playgroups Association in Germany was first established in 1980 and has proved most successful — the salary and expenses of the co-ordinator and full-time organisers, one for each division headquarters, are now met from public funds.
