To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects to receive the report of the National Radiological Protection Board on nuclear test veterans; when he will respond; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sainsbury

I refer the hon. Members to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Knowsley, North (Mr. Howarth) earlier today.

Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he next proposes to meet representatives of the Nuclear Test Veterans Association to discuss their claim for damages to soldiers caused by British nuclear tests.

Mr. Sainsbury

My noble Friend the Minister of State for Defence Procurement, who is responsible for these matters, offered to meet members of the BNTV as early as March 1987. This offer has been reiterated several times, but has as yet to be taken up. The offer still stands.
