I have received a number of representations concerning VAT on donations of equipment to higher educational establishments.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what he estimates will be the yield in the current year 1987–88 of value added tax from confectionery, chocolate biscuits, nuts, snacks and ice creams.

The forecast yield of value added tax in 1987–88 from chocolate and sugar confectionary, chocolate biscuits, potato crisps, nuts and ice cream is around £590 million.
