To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many new jobs were created during 1987 in the constituency of Strangford.

Figures are not available on a constituency basis. However, in the Ards and Castlereagh borough council areas in the financial year 1986–87, 655 jobs were promoted by the Industrial Development Board and the Local Enterprise Development Unit. In addition some 200 ACE and Enterprise Ulster jobs were also created.

Job promotion figures are compiled on a financial year basis. The figures for 1986–87, were 4,187 and 4,244 respectively.
