§ Mrs. Margaret EwingTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Services if he can give his Department's best estimate of the annual cost to the public purse in benefits (excluding all health care costs) of the average patient with end-stage renal failure, distinguishing between those who(a) have no treatment other than amelioration and care, (b) have renal dialysis treatment and (c) have had successful kidney transplant treatment.
§ Mr. ScottThe diversity of medical and financial circumstances within each of the three categories, and the resulting variations in benefit entitlement, are too great to permit any worthwhile attempt at an average annual benefit cost.
