To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services whether any boarding doctors have past or present links with any industrial board claimants for industrial disablement benefit for any prescribed disease.

Mr. Scott

Many of the adjudicating medical practitioners who board claimants for prescribed diseases and industrial accidents have had, or currently have, appointments in industry as occupational physicians. Such industrial experience is of considerable value in this work. Departmental practice in this matter is governed by the provisions of Regulation 33 (1), (2) and (3), of the Social Security (Adjudication) Regulations 1986.
