To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will estimate how many factories and industrial sites in(a) the Tayside region and (b) the Dundee area are standing empty or unused.

For the latest information readily available centrally on vacant factories I refer the hon. Member to my answer given to the hon. Member for East Lothian (Mr. Home Robertson) on 17 November at column541.

Provisional figures for Tayside region at 31 March 1987 show 64 sites allocated for industry of which 26 were in Dundee city district.
