§ Mr. Peter MorrisonIn my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Berkshire, East (Mr. MacKay) on 22 January at columns 885–86, I announced the Government's decision on the way forward for the energy efficiency office in the light of an assessment of the office's programmes. There will be a continuing role for the EEO to fulfil. Initiatives in the domestic sector and in the Government estate will continue to be pursued vigorously. In industry and commerce, programmes are being examined to see how the contribution from those who benefit can be increased.
§ 27. Mr. ForthTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he is yet in a position to announce the outcome of the review of the energy efficiency office.

§ Mr. Peter MorrisonIn order to improve value for money the short survey category of the scheme will be discontinued with effect from 31 January 1988. Other aspects of the scheme will be considered as part of the further work on energy efficiency programmes which I announced on 22 January 1988.
