To ask the Minister for the Arts if he will explain the objectives of the British Library business information service.

Mr. Luce

The objectives of the British Library's business information service are(1) to contribute towards the building, monitoring and organising of an effective national reference collection of business literature; (2) to promote awareness of the information which resides within this collection, its potential value and effective methods for accessing it; (3) to provide specialist help to callers to the library who need to obtain business information; (4) to provide a free telephone inquiry for brief inquiries; (5) to offer, as a charged service, comprehensive and thoroughly researched answers to inquiries about markets, companies and products through access to the British Library's unique printed collections and utilising on-line databases
