§ Mr. Teddy TaylorTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a table of Britain's net contribution to the EEC in each financial year from 1981–82, together with the latest estimate for the current financial year, on the same basis as the table attached to the answer of 18 November 1986,Official Report, column 176; and if he will initiate an inquiry into the reasons why Treasury estimates of net EEC contributions have required upward revisions in many of these years.
§ Mr. BrookeI see no need for such an inquiry. Information on the United Kingdom's net payments to European Community institutions for 1981–82 is contained on page 68 of last year's public expenditure White Paper (Cm. 56-II) and for 1982–83 onwards on page 33 of the 1988 White Paper (Cm. 288-II). The reasons for the increase in the estimate of our net payments in 1987–88 and later years were explained in my replies to my hon. Friend of 9 November 1987, at columns 68–69. Information on differences between forecasts and outturn for past years is contained in previous years' public expenditure White Papers and in the annual statements on the Community budget.
