HC Deb 21 January 1988 vol 125 c771W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what progress has been made in encouraging the United Kingdom's North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies to purchase the new generation Challenger battle tank.

Mr. Sainsbury

We will continue to encourage NATO allies, whenever it is appropriate and realistic to do so, to consider Challenger as a means of fulfilling their medium-term requirements for main battle tanks, in the context of the general approach described in my reply to the hon. Member on 2 November 1987, at column602.
