§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe Government applaud the work done by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and by other animal welfare organisations, in promoting a responsible attitude towards animals and pet ownership. In areas where they have been appointed dog wardens can assist in promoting responsible dog ownership. We have no plans, however, to extend the use of public money for these purposes.
