§ Mr. AtkinsAn early version of the Commission's document "Shipbuilding — Industrial, Social and Regional Aspects" was tabled at the October 1986 Industry Council. The most recent version, including proposals for the Renaval programme of assistance in shipbuilding closure areas, has yet to be fully discussed.
On 22 December last, during industry Council discussion of the Resider steel areas programme, my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster urged the early adoption of the Renaval proposals for shipbuilding areas also. I hope that both programmes will be adopted early this year.
