HC Deb 13 January 1988 vol 125 cc315-6W
54. Mr. Flannery

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will give the profits of British Steel Corporation Stainless, Sheffield, for each of the last six years, respectively; and if he will make a statement on Her Majesty Government's plans for the future of British Steel Corporation Stainless.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

For reasons of commercial confidentiality, the BSC does not publish full trading accounts for individual businesses within the corporation. Profit and loss figures for BSC Stainless, which has works in Sheffield and South Wales, are therefore not available. As I indicated on 3 December, the Government intend to privatise BSC as a single entity, and the future of BSC Stainless will therefore be considered in the context of BSC as a whole.
