§ Mr. CohenTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he will take to ensure that girls will have equal chances of a place at a city technology college.
§ Mrs. RumboldCTCs, as independent schools, will come under section 22 of the Sex Discrimination Act and will be required as a condition of grant to aim at a balanced intake of boys and girls. This will be set out in funding agreements which those running CTCs will enter into, on an annual basis, with my right hon. Friend. Equal opportunity provision is a firm objective of the initiative.
