HC Deb 12 January 1988 vol 125 c239W
23. Mr. Ronnie Campbell

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services how many doctors in the children's cancer unit at the Royal Victoria infirmary, Newcastle, are paid from funds provided by charities.

Mrs. Currie

I understand that medical charities provide funding for three of the junior doctors who work in this unit. Such co-operation between certain charities and the National Health Service works to their mutual benefit, as the NHS provides opportunities for research which, in turn, brings benefits to patients.
