Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Attorney-General (1) what are the total legal costs so far incurred by Her Majesty's Government as a result of all litigation relating to Peter Wright's book "Spycatcher"; and if he will make a statement;

(2) if he will itemise all other costs, in addition to legal costs, so far incurred by Her Majesty's Government as a result of all litigation relating to Peter Wright's book, "Spycatcher"; and if he will make a statement.

The total amount of costs expended to date by the Government is about £500,000 in legal fees and £78,000 in travelling and subsistence for officials.
