HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c12W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much aid has been given to Pakistan to eliminate drug trafficking.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The United Kingdom firmly supports the efforts of the Government of Pakistan to combat drug production and trafficking. During the past five years we have pledged a total of £3.4 million to the United Nations fund for drug abuse control in support of their rural development scheme in the Dir district of the North West Frontier province. In the same period we have spent about £0.2 million on equipment for use by law enforcement agencies in Pakistan and have provided technical assistance in the form of training for customs officers.
