HC Deb 11 January 1988 vol 125 c12W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the current population of Holloway prison; how many prisoners there are(a) on remand and (b) long-term; and what information he has as to how many children have been taken into care as a result of this.

Mr. John Patten

According to the records held centrally, the population of Holloway prison on 30 November 1987 was about 470. Of these, 240 were untried, 40 were convicted unsentenced and about 70 were serving sentences of over three years.

Information on dependent children is not collected centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate costs.
