§ Mr. Michael SpicerThe Department of Energy's contribution to the UKAEA's funding of the underlying research programme is made through a 10 per cent. levy on the majority of its nuclear programme letters, and smaller levies on contracts for non-nuclear work, including a charge of 6 per cent. on the work undertaken by the energy technology support unit. The balance of programme funding comes from levies on work for the UKAEA's other customers, and other arrangements designed to produce comparable levels of funding.
