To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners were held on remand on 22 February in police cells in the Metropolitan police area, the Greater Manchester police area, the Merseyside police area, Lancashire, the West Midlands, West Mercia, South Wales and Devon and Cornwall, respectively.

On 22 February there were 360 remand prisoners in police cells in the Metropolitan police area, 42 in the Greater Manchester police area, 20 in the Merseyside police area, 27 in Lancashire, 73 in the West Midlands, 18 in the West Mercia, 22 in South Wales and 17 in Devon and Cornwall.
