§ Mr. Douglas HoggOn 22 February there were 360 remand prisoners in police cells in the Metropolitan police area, 42 in the Greater Manchester police area, 20 in the Merseyside police area, 27 in Lancashire, 73 in the West Midlands, 18 in the West Mercia, 22 in South Wales and 17 in Devon and Cornwall.
