§ Mr. Fraser
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the value of the inner-city partnership programme for Lambeth for 1988–89 in real terms as a percentage of the allocation for 1986–87/88.

§ Mr. Chope
The 1988–89 allocation is 82 per cent. of the 1986–87 allocation and 88 per cent. of the 1987–88 allocation, at 1988–89 prices. But in 1986–87 Lambeth underspent its allocation by over 13 per cent. and estimates for 1987–88 indicate an underspend of a similar proportion. The allocation for 1988–89 is a slight increase on the estimated 1987–88 out turn at 1988–89 prices.
