§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will set out, in respect of each inner London borough council(a) the actual number of staff transferring to it on 1 April 1986 as a result of the abolition of the Greater London council and (b) his estimate of the number of staff to be transferred to it at 1 April 1990 as a result of the abolition of the Inner London education authority.
§ Mr. Dunn[holding answer 18 February 1988]: Some 100,000 staff were transferred from the Greater London council to successor authorities by the main statutory order. Of these, the majority transferred to the joint authorities and the Inner London education authority, and separate figures by boroughs are not available. My right hon. Friend has said that we expect block transfer arrangements to cover well over 80 per cent. of ILEA staff, that is over 56,000 full-time equivalent staff.
