To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many trainees have gone into(a) work, (b) further education and (c) training in (i) the Northwich travel-to-work area, (ii) the Chester travel-to-work area and (iii) the Runcorn travel-to-work area, in each of the past five years.

The information is not available in the form requested. The following table shows the destination of YTS leavers from schemes in Cheshire since June 1984:

The Manpower Services Commission has conducted 100 per cent. follow-up surveys of YTS leavers since April 1985. Prior to that date the figures are estimates derived from a national sample survey.

Information from the follow-up survey is not available on a travel-to-work area basis, but I shall write to my hon. Friend with further information relevant to his question.
