HC Deb 24 February 1988 vol 128 c211W
Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will provide for students attending international degree courses to receive mandatory awards.

Mr. Jackson

Subject to Parliament's approval of the necessary regulations, mandatory awards will be payable from the 1988–89 academic year to eligible students attending degree courses provided by an establishment in the United Kingdom in conjunction with a university or other institution in another country. Such courses will no longer require individual designation provided that they lead to a first degree of a United Kingdom university or of the Council for National Academic Awards.
