HC Deb 24 February 1988 vol 128 c230W
30. Dr. Bray

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what means he has to ensure that admissions to private institutions for the elderly infirm, at the expense of the National Health Service, accommodate the most needy, whether in National Health Service hospitals or privately.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

My right hon. and learned Friend has no locus in relation to admissions to private institutions. Where a health board funds in-patient treatment for the elderly infirm in a private institution, the patient's health needs should be assessed before admission.
