HC Deb 23 February 1988 vol 128 c125W
Mr. Chapman

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the implications of the recent planning consent granted by Westminster city council for the redevelopment of the St. George's hospital site, Hyde park corner, for the implementation of the conditions laid down in his appeal decision of 21 December 1982; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

I understand that Westminster city council has resolved to grant planning permission and listed building consent for the redevelopment as an hotel and offices of the St. George's hospital site. The planning permission is subject to a section 52 agreement and the listed building consent to further procedures, including consideration by HBMC and possible notification to the Secretary of State. If permission is subsequently granted it is for the owner to decide whether to take up the new permission or that granted on appeal in 1982, provided the latter is still valid.
