HC Deb 23 February 1988 vol 128 c154W
Mr. Colvin

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what discussions have taken place between his Department, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States of America on the introduction of airline passenger protection smoke hoods.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The Civil Aviation Authority has statutory responsibility for aviation safety. The authority has told me that the CAA has discussed airline passenger smoke hoods with the FAA during their annual meetings. Discussions have also been held with representatives of the Transport Canada and the French Directorate General for Civil Aviation.
