To ask the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress has been made since the oral reply to the right hon. Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe, from the Minister for Health on 16 December 1987,Official Report, column 1097, towards the institution of a day case cataract unit at the Manchester royal eye hospital; and if he will make a statement.
