HC Deb 23 February 1988 vol 128 c137W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps the Lord Advocate takes, pursuant to the answer of 27 January,Official Report, column 295, when seeking interdicts, to ensure that the media are not subject to restrictions in Scotland to which they would not be subject in England.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 16 February 1988]: Where Ministers decide to seek orders against the media both in England and Wales and in Scotland in respect of the same material, appropriate consultation takes place to secure that the Lord Advocate, in approaching the Scottish courts, seeks interdict in terms which are compatible with any injunction sought from or granted by the English courts.
