HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 cc12-3W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what provision his Department is making to ensure an adequate supply of orthotists and prosthetists in the short and long term; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson

Courses are provided by the Paddington college and the practical training is provided by the London School of Prosthetics and by individual companies.

The Disablement Services Authority is responsible for the provision of prosthetic services and it is holding discussions with the Orthotic and Prosthetic Training and Education Council about the most suitable arrangements for the future supply of trained practitioners in these disciplines in England and Wales.
