HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 c100W
Mr. Brazier

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether home service units are notified of regular soldiers completing their engagements and resident in their recruiting areas.

Mr. Freeman

Recruitment into the home service force, which forms part of the Territorial Army, is the responsibility of the territiorial auxiliary and volunteer reserve associations. Associations are informed monthly by the Ministry of Defence of men who have recently left the Regular Army and are residing in their recruitment area. In addition, prior to discharge such soldiers are themselves notified of the opportunities for serving in the Territorial Army, including the home service force.
