HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 c6W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will end the requirement for two doctors to sign cremation certificates; and by how much funeral costs would be reduced if this requirement ceased, as recommended in the Broderick report.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

We arc considering this possibility. The fee currently recommended by the British Medical Association for the completion of the confirmatory medical certificate for cremation is £19.65.
