§ Mr. SainsburyA number of enhancements to their main armament and associated fire control and other systems are currently in hand or under consideration for both Chieftain and Challenger. An advanced thermal imaging and observation sight is already being fitted to all Challengers and is now in production for Chieftain. Other improvements under development include a new high pressure gun and ammunition, new gun elevation gearbox and solid state control equipment, and improved computer sighting, and target acquisition systems.
