HC Deb 22 February 1988 vol 128 c3W
Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will refer to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission the risk that obscenities may be broadcast as a result of the implantation of microphones in cricket pitches; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Renton

It is the responsibility of the broadcasting authorities to ensure that nothing is included in programmes which offends against good taste or decency. The commission is limited to considering and adjudicating on complaints of unjust or unfair treatment or unwarranted infringement of privacy arising out of broadcast programmes.
