To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will encourage more dual use to be made of the sports facilities in schools; and if he will make a statement.

With my hon. Friend the Minister with responsibility for sport, we are seeking to develop guidance which will further encourage the adoption of dual use schemes. Such guidance would build on the many initiatives which our Departments, the Sports Council and others have developed in recent years.
