HC Deb 16 February 1988 vol 127 c530W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make it his policy to initiate the renegotiation of the United Kingdom-Euratom-International Atomic Energy Agency Tripartite Safeguards Treaty (Cmnd. 6730) in order to include the requirement to report yearly plutonium production figures, by nuclear station, to the appropriate international agency.

Mr. Mellor

No renegotiation is necessary. Existing arrangements with Euratom provide for plutonium produced to be reported when the fuel is shipped from United Kingdom civil reactors. Euratom keeps the International Atomic Energy Authority informed.
