§ Mr. AtkinsA number of measures already exist to encourage industry to locate and develop in the area. Companies in, or moving to, the TTWA are eligible to apply for assistance under the Department's enterprise initiative consultancy schemes and the area is also eligible for assistance from the European Coal and Steel Community and social and agricultural funds. In addition, the Yorkshire and Humberside development association, funded by the DTI, local authorities and private sector 533W sponsors, is charged with attracting inward investment to the Yorkshire and Humberside region, including the Castleford and Pontefract TTWA.
