HC Deb 15 February 1988 vol 127 cc451-2W
Mr. Evennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has any plans to introduce legislation to amend section 40 of the London Regional Transport Act 1984.

Mr. David Mitchell

I have no plans to do so at present.

Mr. Evennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received concerning the consultation procedures adopted by London Regional Transport in respect of schemes under section 3(2) of the London Regional Transport Act 1984; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

We have received one letter in addition to one of 8 February from my hon. Friend. The statutory requirement for consultation applies to proposals by London Regional Transport to introduce a new London bus service, or vary or discontinue an existing one, whether or not the service is procured under section 3(2) of the London Regional Transport Act 1984. I am satisfied that those arrangements work adequately in practice.
