HC Deb 15 February 1988 vol 127 c451W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the road safety implications of the obstruction of bus stops by parked vehicles; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

Vehicles parked illegally at bus stops cause inconvenience to passengers and create delays and congestion for buses and other traffic. Road safety implications are not easily assessed. Police and traffic wardens are responsible for taking appropriate enforcement action. Technical information on the design of bus stops is contained in "Roads and Traffic in Urban Areas". (HMSO 1987).
