HC Deb 15 February 1988 vol 127 cc509-10W
21. Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy when the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate is expected to report on the Central Electricity Generating Board proposal to build a pressurised water reactor at Hinkley Point.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Health and Safety Executive's Nuclear Installations Inspectorate assessed generic safety features of the pressurised water reactor as part of its consideration of the Central Electricity Generating Board safety case for Sizewell B. Its views were reported in depth at the Sizewell inquiry.

The Health and Safety Executive informs me that the Central Electricity Generating Board is currently submitting to the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate its detailed safety case for Hinkley Point C. It expects to be in a position to make a statement on the licensability of the station in June.
