To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is his current estimate of the proportion of electricity generation he expects to come from nuclear power by 1990.

I am advised that Central Electricity Generating Board nuclear plants are expected to contribute 18.4 per cent. (46.9 TWh) of total electricity generation in England and Wales in the financial year 1990–91.
