HC Deb 11 February 1988 vol 127 c328W
Mr. Geraint Howells

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will consider increasing the guaranteed price for wool by 10 per cent. per kilogramme to cover production and other costs in the current year; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Donald Thompson

My right hon. Friend met the farmers' unions and the British Wool Marketing Board last week to review the prospects for the 1988 clip year and the level of the guarantee which for the 1987 clip was set at 129p/kg. An announcement on the level of the guarantee for the 1988 clip will be made as soon as possible.
